Perry goes on to talk about why the spirit world is veiled. He makes a reference to the garden experience. He mentions the fact that before the fall, Adam and Eve could see and hear God clearly. God entered the Garden of Eden and communicated directly with them, walking in the cool of the day.
Gen 3:8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
I always thought it was God’s voice that they simply heard, but how can one’s voice be walking in the garden? And it says they hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God, therefore, He was right there, and they could see Him. Compare that to this:
Luk 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
Jhn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Jhn 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Rom 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
Remember that in the Garden of Eden they were conversing with the Lord regularly. He walked in the Garden with them, so they could see Him. However, when they fell, after Adam, the one given the commission, disobeyed and bit into that forbidden apple, the eyes of both of them were opened. You see, men want to say it was Eve that caused it, but their eyes weren’t opened when Eve bit that apple. Their eyes were “opened” after Adam bit it.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they [were] naked.
You see where the eyes of both of them got opened at? Right after he ate, not after she did. Let’s be real, and get this straight. Now, my point is that if they were walking in the Garden with the Lord, and could see Him, then what was it that they could “see” when their eyes became “opened?”
So the question is, “What did our eyes become opened to?” I mean, if we could see the spirit world initially, before the fall, what changed? I think, in looking at this, that what happened is that we had full vision in the spirit. Despite being a spirit within a body of flesh, I think that in the beginning, our eyes saw only spiritual things and the spiritual world, despite being in a physical body from a cursed earth.
When Adam and Eve sinned, their eyes “opened” to the fleshly world, and closed or were veiled to the spiritual world. It makes me think of the Avatar movie. When the scientists in that film put on the skin of the people of that world, and became, for all appearances sake, like them; they could “see” the world that those beings saw, and the beauty of it.
They no longer saw with the eyes of mankind, the eyes they came there with. That is why those two scientists in particular, wanted to join that world. The other scientists and the military could not see what those two scientists saw because their eyes were veiled. They saw on a flesh level, whereas, the two scientists were able to see on a more spiritual level, because their eyes had been opened to it.
That is similar to the concept I’m now getting about the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve had full access to the spirit world, despite being in fleshly bodies, but they didn’t recognize what they had, and the authority given to them. The enemy knew, so he played on their ignorance, and sucked them into giving away their royal positions.
Now, in order to have our eyes opened into the spirit world, we must spend a lot of time in prayer, and seeking God, and He may decide to lift the veil and allow us the privilege of a glimpse of what real glory and reality really is. Amazing. This is why we must walk by faith and not by sight.
Psa 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, [and] seek God.
